主讲简介:Professor Jie Xu is Chair of Computing at the University of Leeds, UK, an executive committee member of the UK Computing Research Committee (UKCRC), and the head of the Distributed Systems and Services Theme at Leeds.Professor Xu has led or co-led research projects worth a total of over £30M, mainly from the UK Research Councils, TSB/DTI/Innovate UK, JISC and industrial sources, and was the PI of an EPSRC Platform grant. He is a Steering/Executive Committee member of IEEE SRDS, ISORC, HASE, SOSE etc., an executive board member of IEEE TC BIS, and a co-founder of IEEE Conferences on Cloud Engineering (IC2E), Decentralized Applications and Infrastructures (DAPPS), and Joint Cloud Computing (JCC). He had published in excess of 300 academic papers, book chapters and edited books. His major work has appeared in IEEE Transactions on Computers, IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems, IEEE Computer, IEEE Transactions on Services Computing, IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing, IEEE Internet Computing, VLDB, IEEE DSN, IEEE SRDS, etc. He had received many research awards, including the BCS/AT&T Brendan Murphy Prize, the Kane Kim Memorial Prize in 2012, IEEE ISADS Industrial Application Award, and IEEE SOSE best paper award. Professor Xu is the founding director of Edgetic Ltd (UK) for data analytics and applied AI and Slingshot Simulation Ltd (UK).研究专长:分布式计算、云计算。

主讲内容:云机器人技术关注通过将机器人功能连接到强大的后端云计算基础设施来增强机器人功能。这是一个很有潜力的领域,但是最近关于这个问题的讨论主要是从机器人学的角度进行的。在本次演讲中,我们将从分布式和云计算的角度来研究这一领域,并提出诸如“分布式计算技术如何为云机器人技术做出贡献”之类的问题,以及“云机器人技术给分布式计算带来了哪些挑战和机遇?”,这次讲座将集中在低延迟和高可靠性的关键需求,并报告我们的早期经验与动态卸载策略,这是基于新出现的边缘计算模型,并支持直接部署现有的ROS(机器人操作系统)包。这项工作是由北京国防科技大学的王怀民教授共同领导的。
